White Oak Refinishing with Bona Craft Oil Frost, Heritage
Dated, heavily ambered and orange 2.25" white oak throughout this Heritage home in Wake Forest -- transformed to a fresh, light, natural floor with Bona Craft Oil Frost. The contrast between the old finish and bare sanded wood tells the whole story.

The Challenge
The floor had the classic look of old white oak that's been under a film finish for decades: deep orange-amber cast throughout, finish worn in the traffic lanes, and a dated heaviness that made the whole interior feel darker than it needed to be. The homeowners wanted something completely different -- lighter, fresher, and more in line with how the wood actually looks when it's clean and raw.
What We Did
We sanded the full floor down to bare wood with the big machine, and the transformation is immediate -- you can see in the during photos how dramatically different the raw white oak looks the moment the old finish comes off. That natural, clean grain is what we're working with. From there we tested Bona Craft Oil colors in the actual space before committing, then applied Bona Craft Oil Frost across the full floor, working it into the open grain. The result is a light, cool-toned natural look -- the oil protects without building a film, so the floor reads as wood rather than finish.
