LVP Installation After Mold Remediation, Buffalo Creek
Laminate and vinyl removal revealed mold across the subfloor and critically high moisture in the crawl space. Work stopped. Crawl space encapsulated, dehumidifier installed, mold chemically treated. Once moisture reached equilibrium, Choice Flooring LVP in Vineyard Chardonnay installed throughout the house and on the stairs.

The Challenge
The homeowners hired us to pull old laminate and vinyl and install new LVP throughout the house. When the existing flooring came up, the subfloor told a different story: active mold growth across multiple rooms and moisture readings in the crawl space that were far outside safe range for any flooring installation. Installing LVP over a wet, mold-affected subfloor is not something we will do. The moisture would keep driving through, the new floor would fail, and the mold problem would continue hidden underneath the finished surface.
What We Did
We stopped work, documented the conditions, and coordinated remediation before a single plank went down. The crawl space was fully encapsulated with a vapor barrier and an AprilAire dehumidifier was installed to bring humidity under control. The mold on the subfloor was chemically treated and cleared. We monitored with moisture meters until the subfloor reached equilibrium, then installed Choice Flooring LVP in Vineyard Chardonnay throughout the main level and on the staircase. The floor that went in has a clean, dry subfloor underneath it. The moisture problem was solved at the source, not buried under new flooring.
